The City of Corpus Christi Is Helping Residents Prepare For Possible Rain Event This Week

Corpus Christi, Texas--While folks from South Carolina to Maryland prepare for Hurricane Florence, folks here at home are preparing for what forecasters are saying will likely be a big rainmaker this weekend.

Invest 95-L is currently over the Gulf of Mexico Wednesday morning and though it has decreased in cloudiness and rain, forecasters are saying that there is still a chance that it could bring large amounts of tropical rain to the Texas Coastal Bend as early as Friday.

In an effort to help prepare for the rain, the City of Corpus Christi has joined alongside other communities in giving out sandbags to local residents.

Residents can go to the J.C. Elliott Collection Center, located at Hwy. 286 at Ayers Street in Corpus Christi to pick up their sandbags. The hours of operation for that are today, Wednesday  through Friday, , from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Residents are required to bring a valid government issued id with them and are limited to 6 bags of sand.
